The 2017 “bulthaup | the kitchen as a living space” award

26/09/17 update: We have extended delivery date. Participate until October 6!

We are now accepting submissions for the fourth edition of the “bulthaup | the kitchen as a living space” competition, which recognizes the work of architects and designers in Spain, Portugal, and Andorra and their projects featuring a bulthaup kitchen.

Francesc Rifé, winner of bulthaup 2016 award.

The bulthaup award

Continuing along the lines of our successful previous editions, we will be accepting submissions for projects carried out in Spain, Portugal, and Andorra over the past five years which uphold the bulthaup brand’s values, such as creativity, attention to detail, and aesthetic conception. The winning submission will be awarded a cash prize of €3,000.

In addition to considering our brand’s values, the jury will take into account the overall approach to the living space in which a bulthaup kitchen appears as the heart of the home, as well as the timeless union of functionality, formal perfection, and economy. Other important considerations will be appealing aesthetics, the use of sensuous materials, and a functional design devoid of superfluous ornaments.

bulthaup award conditions

We are seeking projects that include bulthaup b1, b2, or b3 kitchens (appliances not included) and were completed in Spain, Portugal, or Andorra by architects and designers either individually or in collaboration with other professionals.

Entries can be submitted from May 2, 2017 to September 29, 2017 at Bulthaup Iberia. If you believe your project is aligned with our values and fulfills our requirements, please refer to our legal guidelines for further information about the conditions for entering the competition.

Previous editions

Utility value, design quality, and the kitchen’s integration in the overall space have been recurrent features in all past projects submitted to the bulthaup competition, which is holding its fourth edition this year.

Last year, the prize was granted to the RA Apartment entry submitted by interior and industrial designer Francesc Rifé. The runner-up was the Mas Bracons project by architects Ramón Colomer and Meritxell Inaraja.

One year earlier, the second edition of the award recognized the ingenious articulation of space in Casa Alegre, designed by architects Víctor Rahola and Jordi Vidal in collaboration with interior designer Marcos Catalán.

If you believe your project may fit into the competition guidelines and share our values, go ahead and submit your entry!
