From the 1930s to the twenty-first century

When he considered the renovation of a large apartment in a 1930s building located in downtown Valencia, Ramón Esteve chose to preserve the original windows and the high ceilings, shaping an environment that makes the most of twenty-first century technology while creating an atmosphere of peaceful harmony.

Seeing eye to eye: the client and the architect

With the precedent of an earlier project by the architecture firm for the same client, the dialogue was extremely fluid, both in terms of aesthetic and conceptual priorities. This rapport allowed for the unwavering choice of a balanced range of hues and materials, creating an enveloping space in which the kitchen plays a key role. Both Ramón Esteve and the owner were certain that the bulthaup brand would be present in the new home, where the areas for dining, living, and cooking converge seamlessly.

bulthaup’s timeless serenity

The bulthaup b3 furnishings selected for the project combine the neutral tone of the metal finish on the island –the central element that brings preparation, cooking, and a water point together– with the stone-based materials used for the countertop and the flooring. The line of tall storage units set against the back wall creates a large clay-colored lacquer surface that springs to life when its retractable doors reveal their warm natural oak interior. In addition, when they are stowed away in their side slots, these doors never stand in the way of those who are of enjoying cooking together or simply sharing a common space. Next to this tall front, a custom-built shelf cabinet with glass doors complements the ensemble, creating a striking contrast between solidity and transparency.

The place where everything comes together

The central island allows its users to sit down for a quick bite at the extension of the counter top, equipped with four bar stools. For slower-paced meals, the dining table is just a few steps away: the same space allows for cooking, chatting, eating, coming together. bulthaup shapes the gathering point in this warm, serene space.
