Vanaf 1979 leidt hij het familiebedrijf dan als lid van de tweede generatie. Hij zet de visionaire lijn van Martin Bulthaup voort: \u2018We willen eenvoudigweg de beste keukens maken, ons niet ori\u00ebnteren op het bestaande maar nieuwe, nuttige dingen uitvinden, een leefruimte voor ontmoeting en communicatie scheppen.\u2019 Dankzij zijn liefde voor architectuur, de Bauhaus filosofie en tijdloos design zal het bekende beeld van de keuken in de daaropvolgende jaren wezenlijk veranderen.
