Double Island Drama

This kitchen is one of two bulthaup kitchens in the home, this being the main kitchen and the other two floors up. This exceptional basement kitchen was completely redeveloped to create a large, open plan, light and bright space. The long narrow nature of the room helped dictate the use of the double bulthaup b3 islands to create specific cooking and preparation zones. This separation allowed free flow of movement between the islands and the access to the beautifully landscaped garden outside. To maintain the block effect the use of the same gravel laminate finish on the door front and the island worktops worked extremely well. The wall hung oven arrangement with the b3 panelling support system creates a feeling of space as the room opens out into the luxurious dining area. You will notice on one side in the “working area” of the island are all the drawers and on the opposite all cupboards were handless to create sleek look to the kitchen.

Engineers Dream

This stunning kitchen was a joint vision between our designer and owner of this gorgeous new build detached house in Glasgow. With an engineer’s background, detail was of the utmost importance, and on seeing bulthaup in our Glasgow studio, b3 and its attention to detail was unsurpassed by any other manufacturer he had seen.
The special sand beige aluminium tall unit run and wall panelling at the coffee machine, creates a special ambience in the room, changing colour throughout the day with the vast amount of light com-ing in through the wall of glass opposite.
The large island was designed to maximise storage and allow generous surface area for our client who is a very keen cook. The architectural engineering of the bulthaup b3 wall hung system allowed us to create a dedicated drinks and coffee station with a furniture appearance. The choice of materials, appliances and layout equally as important as each other, in this luxurious open plan living kitchen.

Dramatic West End Kitchen

Situated in the heart of Edinburgh, this Georgian home was crying out for drama. As this was a second kitchen in this five-story townhouse, we had design freedom to create something different. The use of a furniture feel utilising the iconic b2 walnut cabinet to house and conceal the functional oven and dishwasher along with a monoblock island to compliment the traditional architecture.
The natural walnut grain of the cabinet combined with the dark island reflects the character of the room, art pieces in themselves, whilst surrounded by sculptures and stunning paintings.
The central island becomes the hub of this level of the home, allowing for entertaining or relaxed, easy living.

Art Lovers Home

This award-winning design uses the ingenious bulthaup b2 workbench and cabinet in walnut as key features to the kitchen. Incorporating a recirculating Bora hob on the workbench, enclosing all the mechanisms neatly away, gives this kitchen a spacious feeling with freedom of movement. The bulthaup b3 graphite run on the side wall incorporating all the appliances and any extra storage needed in this special kitchen, but also allows for plenty white space for our client’s beautiful art collection.

b3 with a view

This large extension, which was added to the rear of the property, on a very difficult site logistically, was a challenge for all concerned but the result was exceptional. An exceptional extension needed a beautiful bulthaup b3 kitchen. Finished in matt lacquer platinum and combined with bulthaup solid walnut doors to help give warmth and homeliness to this large space. The exact positioning of the island was key for our client to maximise the undisturbed view over the Firth of Clyde. Breathtaking.

Edinburgh Townhouse bulthaup b3

This stunning Edinburgh Georgian townhouse was an exciting project to work with our client on. The client’s choice of bulthaup b3 was the perfect option for the space complementing the special dark grey aluminium finish on the island with platinum grey on all the tall elements to ensure the room remained bright and airy. The kitchen features a cleverly hidden pantry on the back wall with bulthaup bespoke shelving and mirrors to conceal a massive amount of storage, a great feature to keep the clean lined look of the kitchen.

Cameron Interiors becomes the first
employee owned kitchen design company in the UK

Ending the Year on a High

Our dedicated Cameron Interiors team have been given full control of their futures, becoming the first kitchen design company in the UK to be employee-owned.

Founded in 1979, Managing Director Kirsten Robeson and her husband Ian have enjoyed running the successful and ever-growing business since 1997.  It has since grown to a team of 12 across the two locations, supported by our dedicated and trusted installation team, some of whom have been with the business for more than 40 years.

In planning for retirement, a trade sale was considered and quickly rejected with Kirsten and Ian instead choosing to entrust and empower their dedicated team who have been pivotal to the success of the business.

Kirsten, who has been with the company since leaving college in 1993, said: “This is my chance to ‘pay it forward’ to a brilliant team that have enabled us to cement our position in the market and allow us all to look forward to a bright future.

“Designing kitchens at this upper end of the market is a deeply personal process and the people and the service are as essential as the unwavering quality of the product.

“The notion of selling to a trade buyer was a non-starter, as so much would be put at risk. When I found out about employee-ownership I was intrigued – and huge thanks to Linzi Wilson of Consilium for guiding us through the process as smoothly as possible.”

All shares of Cameron Interiors have now been placed into an Employee Ownership Trust with staff immediately becoming beneficiaries. In time, all employees can benefit from an annual share of any profits.

To ensure a smooth transition, Kirsten will remain MD for the medium term, fully supporting and advising the business before ultimately retiring with Ian to spend more time with their family. She will also take a seat on the Trust Board alongside Edinburgh manager Louise Delaney, who has many years’ experience working to grow the business and has played a crucial role in its east coast expansion. Aileen Wilson will remain Glasgow store manager, having played an integral role in the management team.

Cameron Interiors is special. More than a company we are a work family.  A team of experienced and talented individuals, collaborating and striving for excellence in creative design, quality and customer experience.  Cameron Interiors is in the hands of the very people best placed to look after the business.

We embrace this opportunity and look forward to the smooth transition for our clients as we continue in our work and dedication to grow our business and deliver an exceptional customer experience for all our loyal clients.

Truly bespoke and with more than 40 years history, the Cameron Interiors ethos and story can continue for generations to come.

Events

40 years Cameron Interiors

Cameron Interiors was opened by Leonard Cameron in 1979, focussing on German kitchen brands, which proved very successful as the integrity of quality was always at the forefront, even back then. Leonard instilled in us all his sincerity, honesty and principles which we have upheld ever since.
The only thing to do in our anniversary year of 2019 is, naturally, to be thankful and celebrate. We were delighted to toast four decades with family, friends, suppliers, architects and clients. Leonard’s daughters, Pamela and Julie, joined us to celebrate their father’s legacy and its reinvention over the last twenty years under Kirsten’s leadership. Masterchef contestant Mark Heirs provided exquisite cui-sine, with drinks from Arbikie Distillery and music by Elliot Murray. It was the perfect night to top forty incredible years.

Scottish Home Improvement Award 2019

The Scottish Home Improvement Awards, now in their fifth year, is Scotland’s biggest industry trade event. Always focused on our clients first and not being very good at ‘blowing our own trumpet’ we normally find we are unable to commit the significant time required to do all the groundwork involved to enter award competitions. Celebrating our 40th year in business, we decided to find a way to do this out with our extremely busy workload and we were absolutely delighted to take home the prestigious Best Kitchen Company 2019 award! To help achieve this, our team are qualified interior architects and designers, all choosing to study de-sign from a natural passion. We design and draw every kitchen from scratch, often starting on the drawing board, to consider every detail. In comparison to a traditional sales environment, clients com-ment that they see a noticeable difference in their experience and in the time, care and consideration we afford to find the perfect solution for them. Our product partners are carefully chosen and share our vision and deliver to the highest standards enabling us to create unparalleled quality and innovative design, German design house bulthaup in particular. Our company and industry have evolved over the last 40 years, yet our core principles remain more relevant than ever – passion, product and perfection. Thank you to the Scottish Home Improvement Awards for recognising our fire and fuelling our passion for perfection even further into 2020.

Scottish Home Improvement Awards 2016

Friday night saw the 2nd annual Scottish Home Improvement Awards return to Glasgow for a night celebrating and rewarding the very best of the industry. The Scottish Home Improvement Awards seek to find the very best of the nation’s building contractors, architects, flooring companies and many others in the industry. The public voting campaign, which ran January to May, saw over 3,000 votes cast from across the country, nearly double from last year. The top voted businesses across 18 categories were then shortlisted as finalists and invited to the Gala Final held in the centre of Glasgow. The event was hosted by famous interior designer, John Amabile. Bulthaup partner, Cameron Interiors scooped the award for Best Kitchen Company 2016 and were also finalists in the Best Interior Design Company.
