A bulthaup kitchen
the home kitchen that’s right for you

The living kitchen is, besides preparing meals, the place where you work, read the newspaper, and gather with your family or friends. In other words, it’s the space in your home where you truly live. A bulthaup kitchen is a meeting place that provides relaxation and a feeling of “home.” It might just be the living kitchen for you.

The living kitchen designed with the user at the center

By putting the user and their individual needs, as well as the architecture of the space, at the center, a unique system emerges. This system is integrated into an architecture that makes the user’s life easier. Creativity in the kitchen is important, which is why the bulthaup kitchen is unique in this regard. It lets people experience the joy of creating.

Living kitchen with a smart storage system

The kitchen is a place of calm for people. This is where they cook. This is where they live. And this is where they work with their hands and the right tools. That’s why it’s important that kitchen utensils and ingredients are within easy reach. You have the freedom to organize them in the way that suits you best. The storage system includes prisms that allow you to arrange the drawers personally and cleverly. With the adjustable dividers, you create structure. And you can do this every day, depending on your preferences or changing circumstances.

Exclusive designer kitchens
from Germany

bulthaup has a strong connection to history, which for our independent family-owned company began in 1949. Since time immemorial, our products have arisen from the connection between craftsmanship and design. From the very beginning, bulthaup has stood for top quality, honest materials and passion for detail. Even in fast-changing times, bulthaup has remained a company that takes the wishes and requirements of its customers seriously and always looks for answers and solutions.

Kitchen from Germany with history

At the end of the 1960s, bulthaup was among the top five largest German kitchen products. In 1978, son Gerd Bulthaup took over the company. Shortly thereafter, collaboration with designer Otl Aicher began. A love of architecture, the Bauhaus philosophy and timeless design transformed the then existing image of the kitchen.

Exclusive design

A bulthaup kitchen is distinguished by its design. bulthaup kitchens and living spaces are places where people meet, relax and feel at home.

Constantly evolving

.
Every day, bulthaup asks itself whether its kitchen meets the needs of today and tomorrow. We create our products with a love of detail and a passion for quality materials. This creates kitchen and living space systems that enrich life.

5 must haves
for the modern kitchen

When you think of a modern kitchen, you think of sleek design, glossy or matte material, handle-less flat kitchen doors and a plain kitchen top. But which must haves are indispensable in such a contemporary kitchen?

1. Steam oven for sous vide cooking

The culinary connoisseurs swear by it: sous vide cooking. This is a cooking technique where food is packed under vacuum and then cooked at constant temperature in the steam oven. The big plus of this technique is that the temperature can be set very precisely.

2. Hood in cooktop

The hood is really a thing of the past. In fact, today’s techniques make it possible to incorporate an extraction system into the cooktop. Steam and odors are captured directly at the source, the cooktop. As a result, you have little trouble with cooking odors and noise. And most importantly; it benefits the design of your kitchen since the extractor can stay away!

3. Induction cooktop flexible zones

From now on, you don’t have to look where you put your pans. With an induction hob with flexible zones, the cooking zones adjust automatically. Heat is actually produced where the pan is placed. This is possible because of the electromagnets located in the plate. The free areas on the cooktop simply remain cold.

4. A boiling water faucet

A faucet with the boiling water option is indispensable in your modern kitchen, especially if you love convenience. After all, you will always have boiling hot water at hand. Boiling water with a kettle or in a pan is definitely a thing of the past!

5. Wine refrigerator

Are you a wine lover? A wine refrigerator with multiple temperature zones ensures that different types of wines are kept under perfect conditions. In addition, it is a neat way to store your wine.

Keep your kitchen knives sharp
with the following tips

Tip 1: Make sure you have a proper layout

A cluttered kitchen drawer is disastrous for your favorite kitchen tools. It is important to store knives separately from your other cutlery. So make sure your kitchen drawer has a proper layout. The bulthaup drawer interior comprises handy inserts that allow you to decide on the layout yourself.

Tip 2: Use your knife correctly

Sometimes you use your knife for other purposes besides cutting. For example, to push vegetables or meat aside on the cutting board. Our tip: do not use the serrated or sharp edge for this, but rather the blunt edge (back) of the knife. This will prevent the knife from becoming blunt.

Tip 3: Cut on the right cutting board

It is important to cut with your knife on a soft surface. This allows the knife to cut into the material, so to speak, so that the knife itself is minimally affected and the cutting motion remains smooth. A cutting board made of stone or glass may look nice, but this is certainly not good for the condition of a knife. Therefore, preferably use a wooden cutting board.

Tip 4: Have knives sharpened regularly

No matter how well you treat the knife, over time the knife needs to be re-sharpened. A dull knife, in addition to no longer cutting finely, can be dangerous to use. Therefore, have your kitchen knives sharpened with some regularity. You can do this yourself – provided you use the right technique – or have it done at an artisan sharpener. Often specialized cook stores also offer the option of having your knives sharpened.

The right tools and layout in your kitchen

With these tips, knives will last longer, stay sharper and be safer to use. So keep these tips in mind when arranging your kitchen and make sure you have the right tools. The bulthaup accessories are functional, safe to use and perfectly suited to your (future) bulthaup kitchen. Too beautiful to put in the cupboard!

Cooking on gas, an induction hob or with the steam oven?

Are you thinking about a new kitchen this spring? Then it’s a good idea to decide in advance which way you want to cook. You can take the step from a gas cooktop to induction cooking. Or go with the trend and have a steam oven installed in your kitchen. We are happy to help you get started and explain the different ways to you!

Cooking with gas

The majority of people still cook with gas, so you probably do too. With gas you often cook by feel. The heat can be controlled precisely and you can actually see how much heat you are cooking with through the flames. In addition, a traditional gas stove looks good with a country kitchen. But for a modern kitchen, we would still recommend cooking on an induction stove. Since the Netherlands will become gasless in the future, we would not recommend cooking on gas. This is because the biggest disadvantage of cooking on gas is the higher energy consumption – 50% of the energy spent is not used to heat the pan. As a result, your dish also takes longer to cook. In addition, a gas cooktop is more difficult to clean than an induction cooktop, for example.

Induction cooking

A modern way of cooking is by using an induction plate. When you place a pan on the plate, only the part the pan is on is heated. Even when you finish cooking, the heated part cools down quickly. As a result, no energy is lost. And after use, the plate is easy to clean. Disadvantages are that it requires a separate electrical group to cook safely and there is a chance that you may have to buy new pans. The better the pans, the more economical you will cook. So it is well worth investing in good quality pans.

Cooking using a steam oven

A steam oven allows you to cook sous vide. This is a cooking technique in which edibles are packed under vacuum and then cooked at constant temperature in the steam oven. The big plus of this technique is that the temperature can be set very precisely. In addition, your food is less fatty and the taste, vitamins and color of your food are preserved. The only disadvantages are that the oven is pricier than a “normal” oven and the residual water must be removed after use.

We think along with you when creating your kitchen

Will it be a gas hob after all, or will you make a conscious choice by opting for the induction hob combined with a steam oven? Share your opinion with us and we will be happy to think along with you. Make an appointment with Edwin via the contact form or call +071 57 21 777. Or walk in to see us in Leiden.

This is how to organize your bulthaup kitchen!

Summer is coming… and so is the big cleaning of your kitchen. Throughout the year, we “collect” various items and tools to prepare our food as quickly, easily and deliciously as possible. But that can sometimes create chaos on your kitchen countertop. Edwin has some tips to prevent this from now on and keep your kitchen tidy all summer long. So read on quickly!

Organize-your-kitchen tip #1: opt for the bulthaup interior system

Use the bulthaup interior system if you own a bulthaup b3 kitchen – or take this into account when selecting your bulthaup kitchen. The interior system allows you to customize the interior of drawers and pull-outs according to your individual needs. The great thing about this system is that you can change the composition at any time. By intuitively sliding the special dividers and accessories, the kitchen utensils can be arranged according to personal preference. The bulthaup kitchen moves with the user, adapting to changing living conditions.

Organize-your-kitchen tip #2: enlist practical helpers

Another tip is to enlist the help of stylish accessories. bulthaup has a separate assortment of handy accessories that will ideally match your (future) bulthaup kitchen, such as the bread container, for storing your bread, and a bread cutting board, for catching the necessary crumbs, and other handy accessories. But don’t forget stylish smart accessories like the foil roll holder and the wooden storage container.

Organize-your-kitchen tip #3: Get advice on the right drawer and cabinet arrangement

Every kitchen naturally has handy drawers. Often you don’t think very consciously about the arrangement of these. But did you know that there are several tricks to arrange them as efficiently as possible? This allows you to have everything quickly within reach and keeps your kitchen tidy. And that’s exactly what we want! Come and visit our showroom in Leiden, Edwin will be happy to advise you on this.

Bring summer into your kitchen with….
bulthaup!

Summer is coming … and so is the big cleaning of your kitchen. All year long, we “collect” various items and tools to prepare our food as quickly, easily and deliciously as possible. But that can sometimes create chaos on your kitchen countertop. Edwin has some tips to prevent this from now on and keep your kitchen tidy all summer long. So read on quickly!

1. Change your accessories

Most likely, you have accessories that made your kitchen warm and cozy during the winter. Now the warm days are coming and you are happy to have some coolness in your home. Therefore, it is nice to replace your “warm” accessories with accessories in “cool”, natural tones. This will instantly give your kitchen a fresher, summer look!

2. Let natural greenery recur

Another way to make a kitchen look more summery and cool is by placing one or more plants in your kitchen. Preferably with beautiful, green leaves, like this one shown in the photo. Are you more into color? Then choose a plant with beautiful flowers. You may also create a wonderful summer smell in your kitchen!

3. Transparent curtains/luxaflex

Finally, when we think of a summer kitchen, we think of lots of (natural) light. So replace dark curtains with lighter (or translucent) ones. Or open your blinds so that sunlight actually enters your kitchen. That way, you’ll bring summer into your kitchen even more!

A number of kitchen components are essential. A stove, kitchen appliances and a worktop, for example, but definitely don’t forget about lighting. Kitchen lighting is very important in the kitchen. Why? And what options are there for kitchen lighting? Read on quickly!

The importance of kitchen lighting

Residential kitchens are becoming increasingly popular and a bulthaup kitchen is, in our opinion, the perfect residential kitchen. The kitchen is increasingly becoming a place where the whole family really lives. An atmospheric kitchen makes it a pleasant place to spend time. Since every kitchen is unique, there is no set recipe for making the kitchen atmospheric. But surely one ingredient of the non-existent recipe is kitchen lighting. Kitchen lighting is very practical, allowing you to see what you are doing, in addition to setting the mood of your living kitchen. So kitchen lighting is very important!

The different kitchen lighting possibilities

There are endless possibilities when it comes to kitchen lighting. Edwin can give you appropriate advice based on your wishes, also for lighting in the kitchen. Here are a number of possibilities:

  • General kitchen lighting: lighting for the entire room.
  • Spots: lighting for a specific spot in the kitchen. This type of lighting is often used under kitchen cabinets.
  • Cabinet lighting: lighting to see all items in your kitchen cabinet, even when it is darker outside.
  • Worktop lighting: lighting on the worktop in the kitchen, so you can see what you are doing while cooking. This lighting is not only practical, but also creates a safe cooking environment.

5x kitchen trends of 2020

Autumn is the realization moment for many that the year is nearing its end and that the new year is getting very close. With a new year also comes new trends, so too for kitchens! We have listed the 5 leading kitchen trends of 2020 for you, namely: sustainable look, natural materials and colors, create your personal living kitchen, lots of storage space and black kitchens.

Kitchen trend #1: Sustainable look of the kitchen

Sustainability is going to play a bigger role in all aspects of everyone’s life. So for home lovers and in the kitchen. The design of kitchens from bulthaup always strives for longevity. Careful design results in less waste of materials and also a more sustainable interior. So when deciding on a bulthaup kitchen, Edwin will be happy to think along with you and suggest any personal adjustments.

Kitchen trend #2: Natural materials and colors

For years, marble has been an essential part of every kitchen. Marble kitchen countertops and marble accessories. But in 2020, other natural stones will also take a prominent role. Think limestone, granite and sandstone. Natural stone also combines beautifully with another material, wood. The contrast between a hard and soft material makes it look very luxurious.

Kitchen trend #3: Create your personal living kitchen

Adding the personal element to your kitchen is also becoming increasingly important. How do you add this personal element? Quite simply by having a kitchen designed entirely according to your wishes. With bulthaup b3, you can design your own living kitchen. This universal system provides the right solution for every living situation and offers almost unlimited possibilities for the beautiful and functional design of kitchen and living space.

Kitchen trend #4: Lots of storage space in the kitchen

By having all the utensils in the kitchen quickly to hand, the kitchen can quickly become a messy place. Avoid this and make sure you have plenty of storage space in your kitchen. One kitchen with great flexibility and storage space is bulthaup b2! The bulthaup b2 kitchen consists of three elements, namely: a workbench, workcabinet and appliance cabinet. Thanks to the flexibility and mobility of the elements, bulthaup b2 also makes it easy to adapt to changes in the room.

Kitchen trend #5: Black instead of white kitchens

White kitchens have been a staple of all interiors for years. Yet in 2020 we are going to see more and more kitchens in other colors: green, gray, but also black. Certainly black kitchens are perhaps going to knock white kitchens off the throne. A black kitchen looks luxurious, chic and stylish in many interiors.

Kitchen design entirely based on the kitchen trends of 2020

Still looking for your dream kitchen? Or are you totally into a kitchen trend for 2020? Edwin will design a bulthaup kitchen entirely according to your wishes. Feel free to contact us or visit the showroom in Leiden. We would be happy to hear your wishes for a new kitchen.

A sustainable kitchen design

Surely one of the big kitchen trends of 2020 is the sustainable look of the kitchen. In addition to a sustainable look, sustainability itself is playing an increasing role in society. Some install solar panels, others opt for a sustainable cooktop. Wondering what sustainable choices are for your new kitchen?

1. Sustainable cooking with the cooktop

The majority of people now still cook on gas. Until now, this was often the choice. Nowadays there are more options for a cooktop, including an induction hob or cooking with a steam oven. When you place a pan on the induction plate, only the part the pan is on is heated. Even when you finish cooking, the heated part cools down quickly. As a result, no energy is lost. With a steam oven, you can cook sous vide. This is a cooking technique in which edibles are packed under vacuum and then cooked at constant temperature in the steam oven. The big plus of this technique is that the temperature can be set very precisely. In addition, your food is less fatty and the taste, vitamins and color of your food are preserved.

2. Durable appliances

Of course, a kitchen is not complete without kitchen appliances. Think oven, hob, dishwasher, refrigerator and freezer. You have probably seen it on kitchen appliances, the stickers with how energy-efficient and sustainable that appliance is. This is also called an energy label. It is mandated by the EU and can range from A+++ (most energy efficient) to D (least energy efficient). So when picking out kitchen appliances, you can also keep a close eye on this label to achieve the most sustainable kitchen possible.

3. Kitchen made from sustainable materials

The design of bulthaup kitchens always aims to be durable. Careful design results in less waste of materials and also a more sustainable interior. So when deciding on a bulthaup kitchen, Edwin is happy to think along with you and suggest possible personal adjustments.

4. Saving water with the right faucet

Some hot water is often needed in the kitchen “just for a moment. Before the water from the tap has heated up, you unconsciously waste a lot of water. If you think this is a waste, you can also opt for a small boiler in the kitchen. This way you will have hot water faster and thus waste a lot less water. So a faucet is also something that can contribute to a sustainable kitchen!
